French visas are mainly divided into two categories according to the length of stay and purpose: C short-term visa and D long-term visa. You can choose to apply for a visa type that suits you according to your travel purpose.
French short-term visa-C type
Duration of stay: Up to 90 days (within every 180 days)
Applicable to: short-term visits, tourism, business, visiting relatives, etc.

French Talent Visa-Type D
The validity period of the exclusive visa type for high-skilled, high-potential or specific project personnel is usually 1 year or a maximum of 4 years. The applicant can bring his or her family members and enjoy direct residence rights.
Highly skilled employees: Hold a master's degree or a highly skilled position with an annual salary ≥ €43,243;
EU Blue Card: high education + high salary (annual salary ≥ 53,836.50 €);
Researcher: Master's degree or above + acceptance agreement from a French research institution;
Artists: Have art projects + income that meets SMIC full-time standards;
Business founders: The investment amount of the entrepreneurial project shall not be less than 30,000 Euros;
Corporate investors: invest at least 300,000 euros + create or retain jobs;
Legal person/executive: Legal person of a French company + Group work experience ≥ 3 months + Annual salary ≥ 64,864.80 €;
Innovative economic project: The project is recognized as an "innovative project" by the French Ministry of Economy;
Employees of innovative enterprises: Employed in JEI companies + R&D positions + annual salary ≥ 43,243 €;
Expatriate employee: transferred from a foreign country to a French company within the same group + annual salary ≥ 38,918.88 €;
Internationally renowned persons: have national/international reputation in the fields of science, literature, art, academia, etc.


Duration of stay: more than 90 days Applicable to: study, work, entrepreneurship, family reunion, scientific research, medical treatment, etc.
French long-term visa-type D
Student visa: language schools, universities, master and doctoral students, exchange students, etc.;
Work visa: formal work contract (CDI / CDD), seasonal work visa (travail saisonnier), temporary work visa (travailleur temporaire);
Family reunion visa: reunion with spouse, minor children, and French family members;
Entrepreneur visa: to create or take over a business in France;
Self-employed visa;
Internship visa/Youth Visitor (Working Holiday) visa;
International Volunteer Visa;
Long-term medical visa.
